The Russian University of Transport (RUT) and SIMETRA have begun cooperation in the field of transport planning based on the RITM³ platform

The RITM³ digital platform will be used to elaborate the dedicated passenger operations' master planning documents, which are being developed by the Public Transport Development Centre of the Department of Advanced Engineering Schools at RUT for the Chelyabinsk Region.

More than just modelling

The RITM³ platform will be used to both simulate various development scenarios in developing the transport services and integrate and cobine various third party source data, such as:
— mobile operators logs (to emulate and analyse the basic O-D matrix);
— results of sociological surveys (to take into account the opinions and needs of residents);
— regional navigational information system's logs (to obtain precise online traffic information);
— automated passenger counting systems to obtain objective data on load factors, etc.

Particular attention will be paid to survey and monitor the quality of regular passenger transport services, namely their accessibility (physical, financial and informational), as well as to assess the effects of suggested measures (changes in safety, speed and environmental performance indicators).

This project will be one of the largest in which RITM³ will act as the unified core for processing and analysing big data in the field of public transport.

The job will result in an evidence-based transport services development programme, considering harmonised integration of multiple kinds of dedicated data within a single platform.

SIMETRA has extensive experience working in the Chelyabinsk region. Since 2019, RITM³ has been successfully operating in the regional centre as a top-level ITS platform for analysing the transport situation in general, monitoring and controlling various equipment and traffic lights. Therefore, we are particularly pleased that we can now expand our presence in the region and become the part of a large-scale task in transport data integration.

"It is a real challenge for our team to combine such a variety of information sources into a single platform, but we are confident in both our abilities and the technological capabilities of the RITM³ platform. The result of this project should be a truly comprehensive digital ecosystem for transport management in the region", said Vladimir Shvetsov, CEO of SIMETRA.
